An access log is a text file that contains an extensive report on all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a website visitor opens only the home page, for example, you may find plenty of files inside the log. This is because there are resources on the home page which are embedded - parts of other webpages, pictures, and so forth. All of these files shall be listed within the access log, so that you can get a full picture of the way your Internet site performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes termed "raw data" too. An access log contains the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, and also the user’s IP address, world-wide web browser and Operating System. More information, including the referrer website, is oftentimes included as well. A log file could be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics created by your website hosting server.

Once you sign in to your web hosting account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you don't require one, you may stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You shall still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.

When you host your Internet sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with us, you shall have the option to activate or disable the generation of access logs with just several mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this function inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is a single click on the On button that you will see there. The function can be activated individually for any site regardless of whether it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find the full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be deactivated by simply changing the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
